On June 27th, 2023, California lawmakers and Governor Gavin Newsom passed and signed the state’s 2023-2024 budget for $310.8 billion. In that budget, approximately $141.4 million has been allocated for mandated cost funding for all county and local public agencies including $50.5 million for RIPA.
In addition, the State of California added new RIPA reporting requirements beginning in 2024 with Assembly Bill 2773, which requires that law enforcement agencies collect a new category of information (called a “data element”) under RIPA. So what does this all mean for you and your agency?
